Couch Superhero

Dress - Max Studio // Hat - Charlotte Russe // Jacket - Unknown // Boots - Lower East Side // Necklace - Forever21
Pictures by Laura

So I can't believe I totally forgot to tell you what happened to me on Tuesday! So Tuesdays and Thursdays are like my long days on campus. I have classes from around 9am to 8pm. Although if I get out of photography on time I can go home for about an hour so it's not so bad. No...that's still bad. Anyways, as I was trying to drive home for that hour for lunch my car would not start. Well, it's not that it wouldn't start...and more that the key wouldn't turn. It's been really difficult to turn the key for awhile and it seems that things completely broke that day. And since I was expecting to be able to go home I had no food with me, no homework to do...and no headphones. So I couldn't even just watch Netflix or anything. Oh, and Laura was visiting me and since she didn't have a phone with her I couldn't call her to tell her I wasn't going to be home! (she also said to not do the picture of the apple in my hands 'cause it's too reminiscent of Twilight :p)

Normally I would just have my dad fix it (and he would totally drive an hour just to fix my car...he's awesome like that). But...my dad's currently recovering from leg surgery and can't drive yet. So I'm just stuck at school. Thankfully my dad called around and found a locksmith to drive out and change the tumbler or something. Whatever the guy did my car works now! It was funny though because the locksmith called me so I could direct him to my car in the parking garage. Ha. Me giving directions to someone. Yeah, I don't really give directions that well :p What's worse is I could barely hear the guy over the phone!

I ended up missing half of my web design class. But it's ok, 'cause my car is fixed now and the class is super easy and I caught up really quickly. I'm so thankful that I have such an awesome dad who was able to help even if he couldn't even get off the couch! That's why he's the couch superhero. He's awesome.

School Outfits!

Dress - J. Taylor (JCPenney) // Belt - Body Central // Shoes - Hotcakes

Dress - Nine & Co. // Belt - Vintage // Shoes - Hotcakes

Dress - Max Studio // Shoes - Hotcakes // Bracelet - Glitter // Necklace - Forever21

What?? Seriously? An outfit post? Finally! I just realized I've done like...well, one outfit post this entire month. Well, I guess I posted my outfits at the beach, but this is the first official outfit post since the beginning of August. Anyways, these are the outfits I wore the first three days of school! Love the first one--the dress is so super comfy! Second one I like too. And I'm really glad that the third one turned out alright. Here's why...

So this morning I woke up feeling alright considering that I'm still pretty sick. Then I hear this weird whining noise in the background. Guess what! It's the alarm on my cellphone...that was really quiet for some reason. And it's not my You Should Probably Get Up in the Next 15 Minutes alarm. It's the PANIC! YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IN 15 MINUTES alarm. So I got ready in record time today! And I basically walked out of the house with just some random clothes I somehow found in the huge mess in my room as I'm trying to unpack!

I'm definitely glad to be back to regular outfit posts, but since I am still a bit sick I really need to get some sleep. So goodnight, y'all!

Why Running is Bad for You

Dress - Max Studio // Shoes - Forever21

So I went running today for the first time in...well basically forever. Now I know I desperately need to exercise, but I just don't think running is for me. As much as I dislike exercising in general I always enjoyed gymnastics, karate, and fencing when I did those activities. And I never ever once enjoyed running. Anyways...back to my original point. My mom asked me to go running for just one mile with her. Seriously one mile sounds way too long to me (obviously I have so much endurance.) And I don't even have any shoes (well haha I have TONS of shoes...just no running shoes) so she's scrambling around trying to find me some to wear. I ended up with some goofy, huge, white tennis shoes. There's the first problem. I look and feel ridiculous. That wasn't the core problem obviously. But seriously, knowing that I already looked ridiculous just made things worse. I'd also just jumped on the trampoline for like a half hour...so I totally count that as fun exercise.

Once we started running I immediately thought wow...this was NOT a good idea. I'm a fast runner, but I have absolutely no endurance whatsoever. I could beat anyone in the 25 foot sprint if there was such a thing. And due to my family's ridiculously long driveway I was basically out of breath by the time we got to the mailbox. ...and then we still had a long way to go. Laura, my sister, came with us (she'd just gotten back from a 4 mile run and was totally ready for another mile...geez, some people) and she just kept up with us and encouraged us. Well, it actually ended up that Laura would encourage mom, and I would vent my frustration by yelling at Laura. It was a great system, really. (I have a very sarcastic family, so there was no real yelling--just sarcastic comments really.) I laugh when people say they love running though. It's actually really horrible.

When we got back to the house I felt basically dead. And I had to hurry and shower so I could get to the feed store before it closed (I was almost out the door when mom made me go running with her). I felt so disgusting even after my shower--I couldn't tell if I was just damp from my shower or just super sweaty still. My necklace wouldn't even hang right because of the sweat--it just kept sticking! And by the time I got to the feed store I felt like I'd lost all control of my basic motor skills 'cause I kept almost dropping my keys and my money...blah. My mom has already insisted that I go running with her tomorrow...she's so funny sometimes.

There! And now you know how absolutely out of shape I am. And this is obviously not what I wore while running--I just threw this on before I left for the feed store. It was awesome taking pictures in these sandals too! They were so gross and muddy after just a few pictures! Oh well. They cleaning up all right. Anyways...thanks for reading and I hope y'all have a wonderful day! And I hope you're more in shape than I am! What do you do for exercise? Are you one of those weird people who likes to run? Any great exercise stories?

Spelunking!

So yeah, I didn't actually go spelunking. But, I did take a tour of Skyline Caverns...so close enough :p I would love to go spelunking for real sometime though--it sounds super fun! Even the word is just fun to say... Anyways, yes we went on a tour of Skyline Caverns today! And, for me at least, it was the highlight of the trip! The cave was just so beautiful! I don't think words or the terrible pictures I took do it justice! I wish the tour wasn't so short...even though it was an hour long. I could have spent all day in that cave! Preferably with a better camera.

The stories of the cave were really interesting as well. The cave wasn't just discovered accidentally, Walter S. Amos was commissioned to find a cave that would bring in more tourists once Skyline Drive opened up. When he finally found the cave that eventually became Skyline Caverns, he also discovered rooms full of anthodite crystals! As I've said before it's beautiful--there have even been a lot of weddings inside! And of course I thought, Wow, it would be super cool to get married in this cave! Oh, another cool fact is that there's one stalactite that the public is allowed to touch and, at least according to the tour guide, it has been touched by Clint Eastwood, Bing Crosby, and Stephen King! Pretty cool, right :)

Anyways, after exploring Skyline Caverns we drove for a very long time on Skyline Drive--which was, of course, beautiful--and we stopped briefly to hike to Dark Hollow Falls. Isn't that the coolest name? My dad originally wanted to hike 6 miles, lowered it to 3, and then finally to a little over a mile. I love hiking, but he hikes like he's in a race...and I like to stop look at everything! I'm so glad we only hiked a mile because even after that we were all so tired! But, it was a gorgeous waterfall :)

Soooo sad it's my last day here! I really don't want to go back to school! But, I guess I've only got a few more weeks left. Which means I really gotta start applying for a summer job...

Well, I hope your day is fantastic! And visit Lipgloss and Crayons for #YOLOMONDAYS linkup!
