Wasted Time

I mentioned a few posts ago that my router broke so I was without internet the first few weeks of school. The first few days this was horrible. What was I going to do without internet? The answer: a lot.

Generally, I keep track of what I do with my time. And, while I never wasted that much time on the internet, of course I occasionally wasted some time. Not having internet was definitely inconvenient for getting school done and getting in contact with people (or you know, when I needed to Google Disney song lyrics). But, I found that I had plenty to do even without internet. I started reading more, got a several projects done that I had been putting off, and my house has never been cleaner! All things I had been trying to find the time to do, and it turns out I already had the time!

It's awesome having internet again, but part of me wishes I had never fixed the router. (Just kidding. I, unfortunately, do need the internet.) Now I'm even more intentional about what I do with my time--especially when it comes to the internet. The one question I ask myself before clicking on a link or searching for something: Do I really care? If the answer is no, and it is more often than you'd think, I go and find something else to do. It's awesome! I've organized my craft-room/office, I'm almost done cleaning the basement, and I've read 4 or 5 books since the beginning of the semester. Yeah, life is kind of amazing without the burden/awesomeness that is the internet.

Dreaming of Florida

I like to keep little icons on my laptop of what the weather is in Akron and Geneva since I tend to spend a lot of time in both cities. This summer I added a weather icon for Ocala, FL while I was down there. It just makes me sad to see that it's like 80-something in Florida...and it's generally really cold here. (Oddly enough, right now they all say 70 degrees, although the window is open right now and I'm pretty sure it is not 70 outside). As much as I love cardigans, it was so nice to not have to worry about bringing a cardigan with me everywhere in Florida! Anyways, I just thought of that 'cause these are pictures from Florida.

On a completely different note, I've really been enjoying my illustration class and I may post some of my work at some point. I'm really excited this semester 'cause I don't have any classes I absolutely hate. There are, obviously, some I like better than others. But for the most part, I'm enjoying the semester!

And Now I'm Back . . .

Well, I hope I'm back. It's been an eventful past few weeks, but until a few days ago my router was broken! I could still get internet if absolutely necessary, but it required going down to the basement and using the ethernet cable. Not too bad I guess, but there was nowhere to really set my computer down and it's just not really a place I like to spend my time. Part of me was dreading getting the router fixed 'cause the few times I checked on things I kept seeing more and more emails and Facebook messages...and I needed to reply to them at some point.

Like I said, it's been eventful, very eventful, these past few weeks. I can't believe it's already the 3rd week of school though! That means only 13 weeks until Christmas break!!!! So, first week of school I had to have my car jumped twice. You know, 'cause I'm a moron and I leave my lights on. (My car doesn't make a noise when the lights are left on. And I usually go to school early in the morning when it's foggy so I use my lights.... ) The best part is that the second time I had to have my car jumped the only person left in the parking lot was one of my professors that I'd only met a few days earlier! Thankfully he didn't mind helping (I hope), and my car battery's been fine since then. Note I didn't say I remembered to turn the lights off... I just said the battery was fine. Several times I've had to go back out to my car and turn the lights off. This morning, however, I actually remembered to turn the lights off in the morning!

So yeah, very eventful. Aside from my car related shenanigans, I also managed to get in a day at the fair, a trip to Put-in-Bay, some production, voice over, and film work, and a trip to the Carnegie Science Center. Good thing I remembered that last part 'cause I actually have pictures from that! And of course I had to wear my galaxy print dress to a science center with a planetarium! Well, hopefully my router will hold up for a while longer this time and I'll be able to get back to posting slightly more regularly.
