Blue and Yellow

Dress - Doe and Rae // Shoes - Restricted // Cardigan - Thrifted // Belt - Nine & Co. // Tights - JCPenney // Necklace & Socks - Modcloth

For some reason I felt like turning on the hall light in these pictures just to see what would happen. Guess what... the natural light from the window made the foreground and lower part of the photo really blue and the hallway light made the top of the picture really yellow. Hence, the photos were really difficult to edit/color-correct. As in, they were actually even worse than they are now. I definitely won't be doing that again!

Finals Week

Dress - Doe and Rae (Modcloth) // Shoes - Resricted // Belt - Nine & Co. // Tights - Walmart // Cardigan - Thrifted

So, it's finals week. I'm exhausted. I've pulled a ton of all-nighters. But I'm almost done... Also, I'm definitely posting my illustration projects after this crazy week is over!

I decided that even though I don't really have the chance to get outside and get super nice pictures, I still like to have pictures of what I've worn. So, I set up my tripod and took a few pictures by my tiny tree! And the ISO's super high 'cause I didn't want to use flash.

So, I straightened my hair...

Skirt - Modcloth // Shirt - Thrifted // Shoes - Restricted // Belt - Body Central

Guess what I finished this morning? I dropped off my portfolio and it's being reviewed... so, hopefully, the rest of the semester should be a lot less crazy! I had to drop my portfolio off really early, so I've been up since 6. It's horrible. Why do people get up that early? Granted, I've done a ton of stuff. But now that it's all done, I'm ready to go back to sleep! (And it's not even 11am yet). Anywho, I'm just so excited that's done. I won't know if I passed until next week, but at least I don't have any more work to do!

In case you didn't guess, these pictures are from the summer. August, actually. (Doesn't that sounds like it could be a movie title? Or maybe I'm just really sleep deprived right now...) Anyways, I posted these for two reasons. First, it's snowing outside (nooooo!!!!!!) and I want to remember the lovely warm weather. Second, since I'm super behind in posting, I still have a lot of pictures from the summer left to post :) Well, enjoy the snow. Ha! Just kidding. Snow is horrible. ....Enjoy your weekend regardless of how snow-filled it might unfortunately be.

Wasted Time

Dress - Modcloth // Shoes & Belt - Body Central // Watch - Flea Market

I mentioned a few posts ago that my router broke so I was without internet the first few weeks of school. The first few days this was horrible. What was I going to do without internet? The answer: a lot.

Generally, I keep track of what I do with my time. And, while I never wasted that much time on the internet, of course I occasionally wasted some time. Not having internet was definitely inconvenient for getting school done and getting in contact with people (or you know, when I needed to Google Disney song lyrics). But, I found that I had plenty to do even without internet. I started reading more, got a several projects done that I had been putting off, and my house has never been cleaner! All things I had been trying to find the time to do, and it turns out I already had the time!

It's awesome having internet again, but part of me wishes I had never fixed the router. (Just kidding. I, unfortunately, do need the internet.) Now I'm even more intentional about what I do with my time--especially when it comes to the internet. The one question I ask myself before clicking on a link or searching for something: Do I really care? If the answer is no, and it is more often than you'd think, I go and find something else to do. It's awesome! I've organized my craft-room/office, I'm almost done cleaning the basement, and I've read 4 or 5 books since the beginning of the semester. Yeah, life is kind of amazing without the burden/awesomeness that is the internet.

At Least my Work is Done!

Shirt - Forever21 (Thrifted) // Skirt - Gap (Thrifted) // Cardigan - Mossimo (Thrifted) // Shoes - Restricted Betsy // Socks - Marc's

Well, I don't know about you, but I kind of like the results of my impromptu blog re-design!  But I really need to blog earlier in the day...I worked on my poster designs for several hours and I, again, don't feel like writing. Come to think of it, I actually had a very productive day. Aside from doing 4 poster designs and a website design, I also did a ton of housework and finally purchased a rake! Yeah, I have a huge oak tree in my front yard and...well it's shedding :p Most of the leaves haven't fallen off yet and I still ended up picking up two bags of leaves!! I'm really not looking forward to the rest of the leaves falling off.

Guest Post by Mom...Sort Of

Dress - Vera Wang (Thrifted) // Cardigan - J. Crew (Thrifted) // Shoes - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Belt - Vintage

Dress - Thrifted and borrowed from my mom // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Restricted Shoes
Photos of my by my mom

Sorry for so many pictures, but I was just so excited to take all these pictures of my mom! She and my dad went away for a few days and left me and Laura with the kids (so fun...). They were going out for dinner tonight and my mom wanted to dress up. So I found a nice dress of mine for her to wear (Vera Wang...um yeah, that's nice!) and then did her hair and makeup. I've never worn this dress before and sometimes I regretted thrifting it, but I really liked the colors. And I'm so glad I did end up getting it 'cause it looks wonderful on my mom. She usually doesn't wear much makeup, but I put eye shadow and liner on her today! She's always beautiful, but it was so fun to put the makeup on her and to see her looking so fantastic! Anyways...I'm glad I got all these pictures :) It was also fun to dress her--she's wearing all my clothes. And, her outfit's totally thrifted too!

Since she borrowed my clothes, I decided to throw on a dress of hers that I've had my eye on for awhile. It's much cuter on my mom than on me. It just makes me look like I have no waist. Trust me, it's there. But you just can't see it in this dress :p And...it didn't really look that great with a belt on :( Oh well, it was fun borrowing her clothes though!

And I know some of the poses in the photos have been really similar the past few posts. But, ya know, if it ain't broke... I was just so excited to finally have found some poses that I really liked. I'll eventually get more creative...at some point.

Anyways, I finally made this cake. I don't really bake that much, even though I enjoy it. But, when I saw this  cake on Delightfully Tacky I was just dying to make it! Mine looks...not amazing. 'Cause the frosting was like dripping off. But, it tasted amazing. I mean, seriously, a black tea and blackberry lime cake with lemon frosting? Amazing. I could have eaten the whole thing myself.

These are some ugly, but awesome boots I thrifted today. Clear rainboots? Yes! I really think they need different laces though. I can't wait for it to rain now though, so I can wear them with crazy socks!

Aaaand, lastly here's a picture I snapped of Laura on the trampoline.

BLT (Bears, Lions, and Tigers)

Dress - JCPenney ("borrowed" from my sister)  // Belt - Nine and Co. // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Restricted Shoes

Today I told my siblings that instead of bacon, lettuce, and tomato BLT really stood for bears, lions, and tigers...oh my. (I know that's not the right order...but it's so close!) Anyways, yes. Bacon sandwiches for lunch. Oh yeah, I think there was lettuce and tomato on the sandwich too...but honestly all I remember is the bacon. On a completely unrelated note, I felt like a boy scout in this tied scarf...I may wear this outfit to camp now.

So I know that I don't really talk about my faith that much on my blog, but I'm gonna make an exception today. My family visited another church today (the church where my siblings did VBS this year) and I was just struck by something the pastor said. Not an exact quote, but I'll do my best. He basically said that God is not our friend, He is our judge. I mean, I know that. But, it's not something that's usually taught in our culture. We usually hear how merciful and kind God is. And those things are so true, but there's so much more! I think that by saying "God is our friend" we are trying to make an all-powerful God sound more relatable and accessible to the general public.

I just see such a nonchalant attitude towards God now...gosh, that made me sound like an old person (but wait, it gets worse). And even in the way we dress at church. Now, I know there's nothing wrong with dressing casually for church. My family usually dresses casually for church. But would you dress like that if you knew you were going to meet someone important...say, royalty? I hope not! But, when you're going to church you're in the presence of the King of kings. He's way more important than anyone on earth!

But, I digress...that really wasn't the point. Dressing up at church is really not that big of an issue--just a personal preference. My point was that we should not think of God like a best friend when he's a judge and a king. I don't want my salvation to depend upon a friend, I'd rather trust in someone of authority. And besides, you wouldn't refer to the Queen of England as your bestie. That would be ...really weird. Unless she is your best friend, of course, then it would be totally ok. I just think that we should stop thinking of God in such a casual manner and realize just who He is. The all-powerful and all-knowing God.

Well...those are my unexpected theological ramblings for the day.

Science!

Skirt - H&M (Thrifted) // Shirt - St. John's Bay (Thrifted) // Vest-  Thrifted // Shoes - Restricted Betsy

Since it was both my dad's birthday and Father's Day, we went to the Great Lakes Science Center. Sadly we didn't get to see the Titanic exhibit because all the tickets were sold out! AHH!!!! Oh well, I guess we'll go back at some point this summer :/ The best part though was going to see the steamship, William G. Mather. I don't really have anything more to say today, so I'll just leave you with some pictures of the steamship and a few others. (PS....WOO!! Good pictures are back! Sorry about my camera troubles the past few days. I really need to stop posting if the quality's not my best :/ )

Yes. This happened. Catherine and I got super bored 'cause...well it's not that big of a museum and we'd been in there like 3-4 hours already. One of my other sisters kind of photobombed the picture too--you can see her head right underneath the lollipop!
