Handmade

Dress - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Sweater - Worthington // Tights - Marc's // Boots - Delia's // Necklace - Handmade

I used to make jewelry all the time but I just recently got all my stuff out again. It's been really fun watching Friends or Criminal Minds in the evening and actually being productive! The necklace in this outfit is one of the ones I made last night. What do you think?

I'm definitely not avoiding homework

Dress - Modcloth // Tights - George // Socks - Modcloth // Shoes - American Eagle // Cardigan - Forever21 (Thrifted)

Ok, so I lied about posting once or twice a week. I'm trying! So it's been almost two weeks since my last post. But. It has been less than two weeks. Meaning I'm already doing better than the past few months. Part of the reason I've been more busy is because I finally got a job! I'm teaching a few after school art classes! Speaking of which . . . I'll probably have to leave soonish. (As in this was a few hours ago. I'm back now)

It'll be really sad if I write this post and then forget to post it when I get back. (No, I actually remembered) I'm waiting mostly 'cause I just can't think of a title. (Still true) Would it be terrible if I just started using titles like "Post #1" Eh, it should be more creative than that. But that's what I want to do. I'm so glad yahoo mail doesn't freak out when you don't put a subject line in emails anymore. So now . . . I don't use subject lines. Seriously, sometimes I'd spend more time on the subject line than the actual email!

Well, that's it for now. I should be . . . well, doing more important things (like homework. as you can see from my very not creative title.)

Jeans Again

Shirt - American Eagle // Jeans -Buffalo Jeans // Scarf - Thrifted // Boots & Hat - Charlotte Russe

As you can tell from the title, I am still not feeling creative. You know when I'm the most creative? In the shower. I should take a notebook in there with me. I have a few poster designs, but I'm really gonna have to spend the weekend coming up with more ideas.

No Idea What I'm Doing...

Dress - Tocce (Thrifted) // Shirt - American Eagle Outfitters // Boots - Charlotte Russe // Balm Stain - Revlon Crush

No seriously. I don't. Isn't that camera cool though? And look at the strap! It's so cool! Anyways, it's a Miranda camera that I'm using for my photography class this semester. Honestly though, that class is so difficult 'cause I have literally no idea what I'm doing. I've never really used a camera until I started blogging...and that's just a point and shoot. Film camera? Wow...yeah. A bit confusing.

This is how dorky I am. I cannot even load the film in the camera. The instructor showed me how to load the film and it took her around 5-10 seconds. Me? After about 20 tries and the film was just flying right back out of the camera I was about to give up...when 30 minutes later I finally got the film loaded. People, I read the instruction manual and then looked up a bunch of tutorial videos and I still could not get it! This is going to be a fun semester....

Oh well! Do you have any awesome stories from a difficult class?

PS - I know I have dirt on my knees :p I don't remember why...

Scarves Are So Convenient!

Dress - Mossimo (Thrifted) // Belt & Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - American Eagle // Balm Stain - Revlon Honey

So yeah, I'm officially back in the blogging world again. Not that I haven't been blogging. But my posts have been a bit sporadic :/ And I really didn't visit anyone else's blogs for a few weeks either. But now I'm glad to be back! Eh, and it made me realize how nasty my pictures are since I don't have the great outdoors in my backyard anymore. I will figure something out though. So I did homework all day and I am just done! See ya... (oh yeah, head scarves are great for bad hair days...)

Guest Post by Mom...Sort Of

Dress - Vera Wang (Thrifted) // Cardigan - J. Crew (Thrifted) // Shoes - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Belt - Vintage

Dress - Thrifted and borrowed from my mom // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Restricted Shoes
Photos of my by my mom

Sorry for so many pictures, but I was just so excited to take all these pictures of my mom! She and my dad went away for a few days and left me and Laura with the kids (so fun...). They were going out for dinner tonight and my mom wanted to dress up. So I found a nice dress of mine for her to wear (Vera Wang...um yeah, that's nice!) and then did her hair and makeup. I've never worn this dress before and sometimes I regretted thrifting it, but I really liked the colors. And I'm so glad I did end up getting it 'cause it looks wonderful on my mom. She usually doesn't wear much makeup, but I put eye shadow and liner on her today! She's always beautiful, but it was so fun to put the makeup on her and to see her looking so fantastic! Anyways...I'm glad I got all these pictures :) It was also fun to dress her--she's wearing all my clothes. And, her outfit's totally thrifted too!

Since she borrowed my clothes, I decided to throw on a dress of hers that I've had my eye on for awhile. It's much cuter on my mom than on me. It just makes me look like I have no waist. Trust me, it's there. But you just can't see it in this dress :p And...it didn't really look that great with a belt on :( Oh well, it was fun borrowing her clothes though!

And I know some of the poses in the photos have been really similar the past few posts. But, ya know, if it ain't broke... I was just so excited to finally have found some poses that I really liked. I'll eventually get more creative...at some point.

Anyways, I finally made this cake. I don't really bake that much, even though I enjoy it. But, when I saw this  cake on Delightfully Tacky I was just dying to make it! Mine looks...not amazing. 'Cause the frosting was like dripping off. But, it tasted amazing. I mean, seriously, a black tea and blackberry lime cake with lemon frosting? Amazing. I could have eaten the whole thing myself.

These are some ugly, but awesome boots I thrifted today. Clear rainboots? Yes! I really think they need different laces though. I can't wait for it to rain now though, so I can wear them with crazy socks!

Aaaand, lastly here's a picture I snapped of Laura on the trampoline.

Antiques!

Shirt - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Skirt - Thrifted // Belt - Cato's // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Faded Glory

So I totally forgot to take outfit pictures until I got home later in the evening. And it started raining really hard. I got the pictures during a torrential rain at dusk but it let up a few minutes which gave me enough time to take a few pictures by the waterfall. I know the lighting's weird...but ya know it's kind of cool actually! And I just noticed I have an almost entirely thrifted outfit on. Cool!

Anyways, I had so much fun today! I went with my Aunt and Papaw to a bunch of fun places! First we stopped at a church sale. There wasn't too much stuff there. But, there was one guy who bought a truckload of antique furniture! At first I was just looking 'cause every time I saw vintage furniture it was always way out of my price range. I like looking, but it would be so much more fun if I could actually own some vintage furniture for once. Well, I thought I misread the sign at first but it turns out that he was selling the furniture at really discounted prices. I got a set of 4 1920s chairs for $15! What? Yes! $15! Granted, they need a little work and some re-gluing, but seriously $15 for a set of antique chairs! The prices were so good that I went ahead and bought a 1930s chair, a 1930s stool, and a groovy 1960s chair. I'm so so so excited about this furniture! Aside from a small couch, this will be the the first furniture I've purchased for my house! Sorry no pictures yet, after I bought the furniture we left for a flea market and I just had dad pick it up for me. The furniture is still in the big van right now.

The flea market ended up being pretty cool, but nothing in my price range. There was, however, a vintage clothing booth that I thought was really awesome. I almost bought a pair of vintage, cognac, leather gloves but they were too small :( I did find out that the owner of the booth had an etsy shop ClevelandsRetroShop. Check it out!

There were a couple of antique stores near the flea market, and we stopped there for a few minutes. At one I bought some old X-Men comic books and several vintage car ads! Wow, I could not stop looking through those vintage car ads--I wanted every single one! I loved them all :) But, I narrowed it down to five. Any ideas on how frame a vintage car ad? I want to hang them around my house. I didn't buy anything at the second antique store, but there were some chairs that I may go back and get. They were apparently the exact same chairs that were in the house when my mom and aunt grew up! The pattern is a little loud, but I love it--especially since it has so much sentimental value! There was also this great 1955 Musaphonic radio that I almost bought. And this awesome plug in alarm clock. For some reason I didn't buy that either. I really wish I had, but I hesitated (probably 'cause I don't have a job...so I guess it's good I save money right now). Oh, and I ran into some old friends while at the antique store--so fun!

Lastly we stopped by an auction. I love auctions, but this was definitely a crap auction. It was a little scary--just dollar store reject stuff. In bulk. Yeah, we didn't stay too long. I can't wait to go to another auction, but hopefully a better one! Well, thanks for reading and I hope y'all have a great day :)
My mom and aunt had the same chairs in their living room growing up!

So...I will learn how to sew just so I can make a dress out of this material!

Back to Normal?

Shirt - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Dress - Monteau // Shoes - Faded Glory

So we're back to regular outfit posts finally!  I'm super tired of blogging after last week. I think I told y'all that my first California trip is why I stopped posting on that first blog. If I didn't really enjoy outfit posts I might have to take a long break from posting. I'm so glad that that I'll be able to read about my trip later, but I definitely don't want to do long diary-like posts like that every day.

Also, I'm so happy to finally have the good camera back, but I'm not too happy with these pictures. I only had a few minutes to run outside between birthday activities....and then it started raining!

I hope you all had a great memorial day! Today was my sister C's birthday as well so we had a fun day. I'm going to make her fun birthday cake when she has her party, but today we had an amazing chocolate trifle! Well, thanks for reading!

A Lovely Red Scarf

Shirt - American Eagle Outfitters (Thrifted) // Skirt - Gap (Thrifted) // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Faded Glory // Ring - Gift from my Dad
Photos by Natalie

I went to the mall with my sister today...and I didn't buy anything. It was so hard, but I have no money right now. Anyways, the hardest thing was not buying scarves. I'm kind of in love with almost any scarf from Charlotte Russe. Laura needed some sunglasses and Charlotte Russe usually has cute, inexpensive sunglasses. So, as I'm trying to help Laura pick out some sunglasses for an upcoming trip (more on that later) my eyes keep wandering over to the scarves. But...I bought zero scarves. After cleaning my closet (ok so it's almost done) I realized that I really never need to buy another scarf. It's scary how many I have...

Later today I went with my mom and youngest sister, Natalie (who took the photos today), to a local library for a crochet class. It's actually pretty fun! And Natalie did really well :) I learned how to crochet at probably around her age, but no one taught me anything beyond the basic chain stitch and not how to do rows or anything. So...I had a bunch of long crocheted yarn chains when I was little. Today I actually learned how do rows! My crocheting is pretty crappy at this point, but I now have a little bit of an idea of what I'm doing. I have some ideas of projects I'd love to do when I get better at it. One book had directions on how to do an adorable crocheted purse!

That's it for now :) I just worked for like 5 hours at least on a self portrait for my life drawing final...so I skipped exercising. But, I did my Bible reading today. Well, thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!

PS yeah...photos still not the best. I'm tpo far away from my other photographers and my mom's camera is still broken. My cell phone camera takes ok pics when there's good light out...but it was after 8 and the sun was setting fast! Hoping this will change soon...

Wear it Two Ways

Shirt - American Eagle Outfitters (Thrifted) // Skirt - Talbots (Thrifted) // Shoes - Restricted (Similar) // Rings - Thrifted // Earrings - Gift from my sister // Nail Polish - Revlon Blue Slate // Balm Stain - Revlon Romantic

As much as I like the first version of this outfit better, the second one is much more comfortable. I spent the whole time this morning tucking my skirt back under the belt. I am, however, so happy to finally have a chambrayish shirt. I say chambrayish just because it's not quite denim and still a little bit dress shirt material. But, it's basically just want I wanted and it was from a thrift store....so I love it. I wore it the first way to church this morning, and the second way I will wear tomorrow.

I had so much camera trouble today! Since I went home for the weekend, I got to use my mom's camera...or so I thought. I kept feeding it new batteries and it would go through them in a couple minutes and then it just stopped working altogether. And I couldn't even get the pictures I took off the camera....yeah I wasn't happy. I had to start all over! And with my cell phone camera again :( Oh well. I wanted to take pics in the woods again too, but it was raining. Ya know, at least it wasn't snowing. So glad it wasn't snowing! I'm just glad that I have so much fun doing this blog, even if the pictures are crappy sometime :p

So...I got a wonderful surprise today. My aunt won a basket in a raffle and gave it to me! And....it was filled with cleaning supplies. Woo! I LOVE cleaning supplies. The basket smelled so so so good. I haven't even opened it yet, but I see a ton of awesome stuff in there :)
Bible reading and exercise done. Thanks for reading and I hope y'all have a wonderful day :)
