The 50s

Dress - London Times // Belt - American Living // Shoes - Payless // Gloves - Thrifted // Necklace - Walmart // Glasses - Forever21

I've mentioned my backlog of pictures before and these are from, well, several months ago. I had the opportunity to help out with a "through the decades" fashion show for Mother's Day! I also was able to be in the show myself and, of course, I chose to represent the 50s. I'll have to check with the other participants to see which photos I can use on my blog, but until then here's some really grainy shots of my outfit after the show!

I really wanted the show to be as historically accurate as possible. So most of the outfits were vintage, reproduction, or modern with a vintage look. I had a small budget, but I worked with what I had and I think everything turned out nicely! (although I'm a bit frustrated that one of my pin curls didn't really turn out right...so sad) For my outfit I even did a half moon manicure and tried to match the polish as best I could to my lipstick. The half moon manicure's not something I want to do all the time, but now I do pay attention to how my nails are shaped!

Out of the House

Shirt & Cardigan - Thrifted // Hat - Charlotte Russe // Jeans - Levi // Boots - Charlotte Russe // Balm Stain - Revlon Crush

I've felt like this recently
And the fear that by doing so, you're slowly turning into a hermit...
(imgur)
...I've also been watching a lot of Arrested Development.

Anyways, I finally was a wee bit social this weekend. And I'm wearing pants today. This is because I went hiking with one of my friends today. It was actually really fun! I enjoy being outdoors, but I've been kind of indoorsy the past few weeks :p So I'm thinking I might start going to parks close to my house for pictures 'cause I'm so tired of crappy indoor pictures! Today's for example? Booooring! And yet I keep posting them and then complaining about them...it's a vicious cycle.

I Got $20 in my Pocket...

So yes, I went thrift shopping!! And I actually did only spend $20! I was looking forward to today all weekend!!! It was a great start to my spring break week! So, I went to the mall with my sister Laura of Princess in Mudboots in the morning. But, I didn't buy anything because I knew I'd be going thrift shopping in the evening with some of my friends from Navs (the on-campus Bible study I'm involved in).

We all met at the Goodwill in Akron around 4PM.  Here's some of the awesome stuff we found:

Some awesome red boots--Ted Mosby approved.

Here's my friend Rachel (you know her better as my photographer R. Parker) modeling some awesome shoes. She didn't buy them because they were a little squishy in the toes. I didn't buy them 'cause I already have a pair very similar.

We all loved the pattern on this jacket, but it was just too big and didn't look good as an oversized piece.

This shirt looked so cool, but was too small for anyone. Seriously, I never would have tried this on, but Rachel finds the coolest stuff in thrift stores! Oh wait...then I found this...

I seriously just wanted this dress to have as a costume! It's sooo cool!!! And it made me feel like a princess lol

I'm at my parent's house now and I don't have all the stuff that I thrifted with me, but I'll get pictures of that stuff up after Easter. Anyways, after we spent hours in Goodwill, Amanda (another friend from Navs) suggested that we go to the Village Discount Outlet right down the road. We didn't spend as long there, but I did find this amazing hat. And it reminded me of this.

I didn't end up buying the hat, but I've always wanted a big hat like that and I always wondered what it would look like an me. So, it was good that I got to try it on. I'm thinking I'll eventually buy one now that I know I like it.

After thrifting we ate at Arby's then went to Amanda's house to watch Mrs. Doubtfire. Awesome night :) Anyways, here's some pictures of the outfit I wore.

Sweater - Thrifted // Jeans - Old Navy // Flats - Target // Earrings - Purchased at a market in China (it sounds so much better than "Made in China" 'cause I was actually there and I bought those earrings...) // Bracelet - A craft store // Rings - Thrifted
Photos by R. Parker

Well, that was a long post! Anyways, I will get pictures of my thrifted stuff up as soon as I go back to my house after spring break. I know school's schedules are all different, but how was your spring break? And do you think I can pull off a hat that huge?

Cold and Gray on a Rainy Day

Shirt - New York & Company (Thrifted) // Scarf - Thrifted // Pants - Buffalo Jeans // Boots - Target // Earrings - Thrifted //
Rings - Thrifted

Just when I thought it was warming up, it got cold.....and rainy! Anyways, since Spring break is coming up I've had a ton of homework! I wish I could look forward to warmer weather during break, but I'm just going back to my parents house for break. And apparently it's even colder there! Hope your break is (or was? schools are always different) warmer than mine!
