Auction Finds

I'm out of town this weekend for my best friend's wedding. So...here's a post with some pictures of the items I got last weekend at the antique stores, auction, flea markets, and other places. In the pictures you'll see some comic books, ads, a Nassau child's iron, a Earhart Wallstreeter suitcase, a Oster Snoflake ice shaver, and some Whitman flashcards. I hope you enjoy these pictures! Have a great weekend!

Dinosaur Dig and Yet Another Birthday

Shirt - Zazzle // Skirt - Thrifted // Belt - Cato's // Plaid Shirt - Charlotte Russe (Thrifted) // Shoes - l.e.i.

And yet another birthday today! And there are still at least 3 more just in June! Today was my brother D's 5th birthday and he had a dinosaur theme. I unfortunately forgot to upload a picture of the cake, but it actually turned out really well! I got the best olive green color gradation for the T-Rex head though! Anyways, because of the dinosaur theme I knew I had to wear my Primeval shirt. I know I've said this before but if you haven't watched the show Primeval, you must!  The rest of my outfit was inspired by Abby Maitland (a character on the show). So it fit the theme perfectly!

I don't know why, but when I decided to take pictures I just told my sister, Catherine, to put on a plaid shirt and some boots and come with me. It ended up being really fun. I should do sibling photo shoots more often! On the way to the woods we grabbed a shovel and decided to do a dinosaur dig inspired photo shoot. We only had about 15 minutes so we didn't get too many pictures, but it was fun! I wish we could have found my dad's safari hat though--it would have looked cool in the pictures. And without dinosaur bone props it could look like we're burying something rather than digging something up. But, we did have dinosaur dig in mind when we took these pictures.

Well, I'm not planning to blog over the weekend 'cause I'm in my friend's wedding. But I have a post scheduled for while I'm gone. Well I hope y'all have a great day and thanks for reading!

Another Birthday?

Shirt - Arizona Jeans // Skirt - Talbots // Shoes - Maurices // Hat - Charlotte Russe // Suitcase - Vintage Earhart Wallstreeter

So today is my sister Laura's birthday! She just turned 16! You can check out her blog here! Because another birthday's tomorrow we celebrated her birthday on Tuesday. Wow, we had a chocolate glazed oreo cake ...and it was amazing. Unfortunately I don't seem to have a picture of the cake...but trust me it was simply delicious!

After the festivities I went to an auction with my Papaw and scored some pretty cool stuff. I got an Earhart Wallstreeter suitcase, some roller skates, a Nassau child's iron, a vintage Oster Snowflake Ice Shaver, and some unopened Whitman flashcards! I knew I liked the items, but I had no real knowledge of them before last night. Now, after googling the items part of me is tempted to sell them. Especially the suitcase 'cause it was around $5, but it's selling for like $60! But...I really like what I got so I really want to keep it! Oh well, I'll figure something out :)

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day!

Where Have My Pants Been?

Shirt - Mossimo (Thrifted) // Jeans - a.n.a // Shoes - Restricted

Haha, so did the title scare you? I'm just loving wearing dresses/skirts every day! It's so fun! And comfortable. I realized it's been weeks since I've worn pants. I should have taken a picture of my sister, C, 'cause she's the reason I wore this outfit. I had no idea what to wear this morning and she normally wears just a t-shirt and jeans. But, she's had a similar striped shirt in her closet and I've been begging her to wear it! I woke up this morning and saw she had on the striped shirt and dark wash jeans on...so I wore the same thing :)

Well, honestly I'm so tired that it took me a moment to remember what I even did today. Oh yeah! Job interview. That went well and they said they'll call within a week. I'm not really worried--it's just Pizza Hut. Oh, and then I took Laura, C, and my brother, M, to see Epic. Great movie! Very cute and funny without being stupid like so many kids movies today.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy your day :)

More Antiques!

Dress - Cotton On // Belt - Cotton On // Scarf - Thrifted // Hat - Charlotte Russe // Boots - l.e.i.

Wow, I know I'm white, but I look seriously ghostly in these pictures! I guess that's what I get for rockin' SPF 90 (So sad I couldn't find a YouTube video of this 'cause the sunscreen thing's a Cougar Town quote...although I really do wear sunscreen 24/7).

So I know this outfit is very similar to one I wore earlier this week...but technically it was last month now that I think of it. And, I even wore something similar on Wednesday when I wasn't feeling too creative. Obviously I love this dress! Funny, I bought it last year and I never wore it. Not once. And now I can't stop wearing it! Good thing I didn't get rid of it when I was organizing my closet.

Anyways, today I went to some more antique stores with my relatives today! First we stopped by this co-op filled with individually owned booths. And...I found a ton of vintage advertisements again! At first I wondered why I found the advertisements so fascinating, but since I'm majoring in graphic design it actually makes sense. I need to stop buying vintage advertisements though, but I just love them! I really hope I get the job I'm interviewing for tomorrow 'cause I really really need money now. Then we stopped by the Miscellaneous Barn for a little bit. There are a ton of buildings there and it's so fun to just wander around! If you live in the Cleveland area, you should check it out!

Well, that's it for today! Thanks for reading! Hope y'all have a great day!

Antiques!

Shirt - American Eagle (Thrifted) // Skirt - Thrifted // Belt - Cato's // Scarf - Thrifted // Shoes - Faded Glory

So I totally forgot to take outfit pictures until I got home later in the evening. And it started raining really hard. I got the pictures during a torrential rain at dusk but it let up a few minutes which gave me enough time to take a few pictures by the waterfall. I know the lighting's weird...but ya know it's kind of cool actually! And I just noticed I have an almost entirely thrifted outfit on. Cool!

Anyways, I had so much fun today! I went with my Aunt and Papaw to a bunch of fun places! First we stopped at a church sale. There wasn't too much stuff there. But, there was one guy who bought a truckload of antique furniture! At first I was just looking 'cause every time I saw vintage furniture it was always way out of my price range. I like looking, but it would be so much more fun if I could actually own some vintage furniture for once. Well, I thought I misread the sign at first but it turns out that he was selling the furniture at really discounted prices. I got a set of 4 1920s chairs for $15! What? Yes! $15! Granted, they need a little work and some re-gluing, but seriously $15 for a set of antique chairs! The prices were so good that I went ahead and bought a 1930s chair, a 1930s stool, and a groovy 1960s chair. I'm so so so excited about this furniture! Aside from a small couch, this will be the the first furniture I've purchased for my house! Sorry no pictures yet, after I bought the furniture we left for a flea market and I just had dad pick it up for me. The furniture is still in the big van right now.

The flea market ended up being pretty cool, but nothing in my price range. There was, however, a vintage clothing booth that I thought was really awesome. I almost bought a pair of vintage, cognac, leather gloves but they were too small :( I did find out that the owner of the booth had an etsy shop ClevelandsRetroShop. Check it out!

There were a couple of antique stores near the flea market, and we stopped there for a few minutes. At one I bought some old X-Men comic books and several vintage car ads! Wow, I could not stop looking through those vintage car ads--I wanted every single one! I loved them all :) But, I narrowed it down to five. Any ideas on how frame a vintage car ad? I want to hang them around my house. I didn't buy anything at the second antique store, but there were some chairs that I may go back and get. They were apparently the exact same chairs that were in the house when my mom and aunt grew up! The pattern is a little loud, but I love it--especially since it has so much sentimental value! There was also this great 1955 Musaphonic radio that I almost bought. And this awesome plug in alarm clock. For some reason I didn't buy that either. I really wish I had, but I hesitated (probably 'cause I don't have a job...so I guess it's good I save money right now). Oh, and I ran into some old friends while at the antique store--so fun!

Lastly we stopped by an auction. I love auctions, but this was definitely a crap auction. It was a little scary--just dollar store reject stuff. In bulk. Yeah, we didn't stay too long. I can't wait to go to another auction, but hopefully a better one! Well, thanks for reading and I hope y'all have a great day :)
My mom and aunt had the same chairs in their living room growing up!

So...I will learn how to sew just so I can make a dress out of this material!
